Frequently Asked Questions

From fresh produce to artisanal goods, subscription boxes, events and even virtual products such as cookery books! - You’re in control.

We are an online farmers market, so we do have some limitations.  We have a Product listing policy, and we are also aligned with our payment processors' rules, which can be found here: Stripe's Restricted Businesses.  If you're not sure, it's best to ask us first.

There are no costs to join, none to list your products, no separate card fees, no membership fees, just a single simple commission that covers everything from our side.

This means if you don’t sell anything, you don’t pay anything.

Not at all.  We are only open to UK-based producers, including farmers, artisans, crafters, and food producers, from full-time jobs to side hustles. If you’re passionate about sharing your products, we’d love to have you with us!

Not at all!   Our platform is designed to be user-friendly for all skill levels. We also provide support and tutorials to guide you through the setup process.  If you have questions, then we have support forums, and we are also here to help all the way.

No, the only rules are that you need to comply with our Seller Eligibility Policy.

We’re looking for your insights on how the platform works for your business. This includes feedback on features, user experience, and suggestions for improvement.  Basically, how can we get better to help you more?

No, you don’t need to be an established business to join! Whether you’re just starting out, running a home-based business, or have an established storefront, our platform is designed to support makers at every stage.

Currently, pay-outs are set to be automatic as soon as the customer pays, direct to your Stripe account.  This means that you don't get a cash flow issue and your accounts are easier as payments aren't bundled together.

Unlike other platforms, we don’t hold back funds unnecessarily, ensuring you get paid promptly for your sales.

No, there are no hidden fees on our platform. We don’t charge listing fees or any of the unexpected charges you might encounter on other platforms.

The only cost is a clear and transparent commission fee on each sale.

A chargeback is a process where a cardholder, typically after a purchase, can request their bank to reverse a transaction and reclaim the funds from the retailer’s bank, usually due to a dispute.

In the case of a chargeback, the Great British Farmers Market will support you in the dispute with the payment processor.

If upheld, the chargeback amount, as well as any relevant payment processor fees, will be deducted from your upcoming pay-out if the chargeback.

Sellers will be notified of any chargebacks processed against their sales.

We do our best to support you through the process and help you every step of the way.

Please review the following guidance from our payment processor: Stripe Chargebacks 101

Yes, you can sell to customers outside the UK. However, international selling comes with challenges, such as complying with General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR), CE marking and managing cross-border shipping logistics.

We’re currently working on solutions to help sellers navigate these complexities and make international sales easier and more accessible.

In the meantime, you’re free to explore these opportunities if you’re comfortable managing them independently.

If you don’t sell anything, you won’t have to pay anything. There are no platform fees, and the only cost is a small commission on each sale - so if you don’t make sales, there’s nothing to pay.

We only get paid if you make a sale so we’re here to support you every step of the way to help you reach your customers and grow your business.

We’re here to support you every step of the way to help you reach your customers and grow your business.

Yes, you can absolutely use your own shipping provider! You have full control over how you handle shipping now and in the future. However, as we grow and add more sellers to the platform, we’ll work together to negotiate group rates with shipping companies, giving us the collective buying power to secure the best possible deals.

To make the buying experience smoother for your customers, we recommend including the cost of shipping in your listed prices. This helps avoid surprises at checkout and keeps things simple for your buyers.

Customers will find your products through our platform’s tailored marketing efforts and search functionality. We’re committed to driving traffic to the marketplace through targeted advertising, social media campaigns, and partnerships.

Additionally, our platform is designed with SEO best practices to ensure your products rank highly in search engine results.

As the platform grows, we’ll also spotlight sellers in our newsletters and feature your products in promotions to reach even more buyers.
