Setting Up Your GBFM Shop Profile

Introduction

Your shop profile is the home of your business on GBFM. It’s the place customers visit to understand who you are, what you make and why they should trust you. A good profile is friendly, clear and honest — it doesn’t need to be long or complicated.

This guide shows you how to set it up step by step.

Step 1: Open Your Shop Profile Settings

  1. Log in to your seller account and open your Vendor Dashboard
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select Store Settings

This is where your shop name, description, images and details all live.

Step 2: Choose a Simple Shop Name

Your shop name should help customers understand what you sell. Good examples:

Willow Garden Preserves · The Knitted Sparrow · Devon Wildflower Honey · Yorkshire Woodcraft

Keep it friendly and clear, and avoid anything customers might struggle to remember or spell.

Customers trust shops with a recognisable image. You can use:

  • A simple logo
  • A photo of your workspace
  • A photo of your product range
  • A friendly portrait, if you prefer

Tips: good lighting, plain backgrounds, natural colours. A clear phone photo beats a clever design every time.

Step 4: Write a Short, Friendly Bio

Two or three sentences are perfect. Include:

  • Who you are
  • What you make or grow
  • Where you’re based
  • A small detail about your story or values

For example:

“I make small batch jams and chutneys in my kitchen in Kent, using produce from my garden.”

“I knit soft woollen hats and scarves from British wool and hand finish each one here in Northumberland.”

Keep it honest and warm.

Step 5: Add Your Location

Customers love buying from local makers. Your location shows as your town or village and county or region — never your full address. It helps customers connect with local sellers and sets delivery expectations.

Step 6: Connect Your Stripe Account

Before your first sale, link your Stripe account from the same Settings area — there’s a Connect with Stripe button on the payments/payouts tab. This is how you get paid: as merchant of record, your share of each sale goes straight to your Stripe account at checkout. Full detail in How Payments Work.

Step 7: Shop Policies (Handled by GBFM)

You don’t need to write your own shop policies, GBFM’s marketplace-wide policies apply to every shop automatically. That covers the fundamentals like refunds, cancellations and how disputes are handled, so customers get the same fair treatment wherever they buy on GBFM.

If you have something specific worth telling customers, for example “I dispatch on Wednesdays only so orders never sit in a depot over a weekend”, or “my brownies are best within 5 days”, put it in your bio or your product descriptions rather than a policy. It gets the message across without conflicting with the marketplace rules.

The full policies live in the Vendor Agreement worth a read, so you know where you stand from day one.

Step 8: Add a Shop Banner (Optional)

A banner makes your shop feel inviting. Ideas:

  • A photo of your products together
  • A photo of your workspace
  • A simple graphic in your brand colours

Keep it light, natural and authentic.

Step 9: Preview Your Shop as a Customer

From your dashboard, use the View Store link to see your shop exactly as shoppers do. Check:

  • Does the profile feel warm and welcoming?
  • Is the information easy to read?
  • Are the images clear?
  • Does it reflect your style?

Make small adjustments if anything feels unclear.

Summary

A good shop profile includes:

  • A clear shop name
  • A warm profile image or logo
  • A short, friendly bio
  • Your general location
  • Your Stripe account connected
  • Simple, clear shop policies
  • An optional banner
  • A preview through your customers’ eyes

Small, honest details help customers feel confident buying from you.
